Julius Aghahowa is an injury doubt for Nigeria |
Nigeria could be without striker Julius Aghahowa for their 2006 World Cup qualifier in Gabon on 9 October. The Super Eagles forward, who plays for Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukraine, has been ruled out for up to two weeks due to a knee injury.
Officials of the club said Aghahowa's injury was the consequence of banging his knee against the goalpost in last Saturday's league match at Metalurg Zaporizhya.
Aghahowa is his club's leading league goalscorer with four goals in seven matches.
The injury also means that the striker will definitely miss Shakhtar's European Champions League match away to Barcelona on 29 September.
Shakhtar lost their opening Champions League game to AC Milan by a lone goal.
