Aghahowa wants to play in Spain, Italy or England |
Nigeria's Julius Aghahowa has admitted that signing a five year contract with Ukrainian club Shaktar Donetsk was a "mistake." Clubs from England, Italy and Spain have declared an interest in the striker but Shaktar have so far refused to sanction any transfer.
Aghahowa told BBC Sport that he now wishes he had negotiated better terms which could have permitted a move elsewhere.
"In hindsight, I can say that I made a mistake but it did not look like a mistake at the time because I had no other offer apart from theirs," Aghahowa told this website.

"The president of the club says they are not interested in the money they could make by selling me.
"He insists that I am needed here, so it looks like I will be with the club until my contract runs out."
Aghahowa, Nigeria's top scorer at the 2002 Cup of Nations in Mali, said there had been an understanding that he could leave Shaktar after one or two seasons but this was not honoured.
"There was a verbal understanding that after a year or two, I would be allowed to leave," he explained.
"As I had not played in Europe before going there, I needed the experience there and I admit that I have learnt a lot.
"But as a player, I am aspiring to play in a bigger league."
The English Premiership, French Championnat or Spain's Primera Liga would be Aghahowa's preferred destinations when his time with Shaktar comes to an end.
"They are suited to the way I play and can easily cope with the demands there," he added.
