Kotoko's directors are unhappy with Kodric's performance |
Ghanaian side Kumasi Asante Kotoko have terminated the contract of their German coach Hans Kodric.
Kodric, who took over the job from former African Player of the Year Abdul Razak, has only been in the job for two months, as he was appointed in February.
The dismissal, which comes with just three days before the start of the new league season, comes after Kotoko's recent victory over Ivorian side Asec in the Champions League.
They reached the last sixteen of the competition on the away goals rule after drawing 0-0 in the second leg in Kumasi.
The first leg ended 1-1 in Abidjan.
But supporters of Kotoko chanted their disapproval against the coach throughout the second-leg game.
Kotoko chief executive Yaw Larsen told BBC Sport that the club's board of directors decided to relieve Kodric of his job after "sub-standard performances" in the two-legged tie.
Malik Jabir, Kotoko's technical director, will take charge of the team before a substantive coach is named.
Ghanaian media reports say German Hans Dieter Schmidt, who until recently was coach of Confederations Cup campaigners King Faisal, is the favourite to take over the team.
The 'Porcupine Warriors,' as Kotoko are nicknamed, will play against Brong Ahafo United in Sunday's opening match of the new league season.
