Cameroon have told a panel sent to Fifa to plead over the deduction of six World Cup points to stay in Switzerland as long as it takes to reverse the world body's decision. Fifa docked the qualifying points and fined Cameroon $153,000 as punishment for ignoring warnings and wearing a one-piece kit in this year's African Nations Cup.
"We're in constant touch with the panel and we've told them to stay back in Zurich for as long as they can to get a good result from Fifa," said a sports ministry official in Yaounde.
After Fifa announced the punishment, Cameroon's former sports minister Bidoung Mkpatt assembled a 12-member panel of legal experts and football administrators to appeal against the decision.
Mkpatt was then sacked last week and replaced by Sigfried Etame Massoma.
Cameroon start their 2006 World Cup qualifiers in June in a group which includes Egypt, Sudan, Benin, Ivory Coast and Libya.
The matches will be played on a home-and-away basis and only the group's top team will go through to the finals in Germany.
