Enyimba starts defence well
The African Champions League trophy
The trophy all African clubs dream of lifting
Enyimba of Nigeria got the defence of their Champions League title off to a good start with a 3-0 first round first leg tie win at home over Senegal's Diaraf on Sunday.

Bob Osim put the home side ahead in the 33rd minute from the penalty spot, after Ndidi Anumunu was brought down.

Three minutes later Anumunu, one of the players cited by Ismaili as being ineligible for last year's Champions League final, added the second.

The champions added the third in the 42nd minute as Yusuf Muhammed released David Tyakase who brilliantly lobbed the ball over the Diaraf goalkeeper.

Enyimba's coach, Michael Urukalo, believes his boys have done enough to make the next round.

"Although it wasn't an easy game I'm satisfied. I think we've done enough, I don't see us losing to this same side by 3-0 in the return leg" he said.

The clash of two former champions ended in stalemate as Asec Abidjan and Ghana's Asante Kotoko drew 1-1 in the Ivory Coast.

The home side took the lead in the 55th minute when Vincent Die Foneye headed home a corner from Adama Soro Taina.

The Ghanaians equalised in the 77th minute when Shilla Alhassan broke free on the counter attack and beat a defender before lashing the ball into the top right corner.
