They are also locked in a battle for the Egyptian premier league title. On Sunday, Ahly cut Zamalek's lead in the league to eight points.
The two rivals will play both their Arab Champions League group two matches at Cairo's 70,000-capacity stadium on 14 April and 12 May respectively.
Ahly and Zamalek are already scheduled to meet in the league on 21 May, making it three games in five weeks.
To add to the flavour, both sides are also coached by Portuguese trainers - Manuel Jose at Ahly and Nelo Vingada in charge of Zamalek.
The other Egyptian team in the Arab Champions League - Ismaili - have been drawn in group one.
The top two finishers in each group qualify for the semi-finals to be played over two legs on 13 June and 22 June.
The final will be in the Lebanese capital Beirut on 26 June.
