Rabah Sadane is to take charge of Algeria for the friendly against Senegal later this month, despite having quit as Desert Foxes coach last month.
Sadane resigned his post in February following the Algerians' Cup of Nations quarter-final exit against Morocco.
The 59-year-old then returned to his previous job as technical director of the Algerian Football Federation (AFF).
Yet with Algeria yet to appoint a replacement, Sadane will return to the helm for the match in Annaba on 31 March.
It will be the Desert Foxes' first game since their Nations Cup campaign in Tunisia, where a passionate display and an unexpected place in the last eight earned the Algerian players a heroes' welcome on their return.
Algeria have named a 25-man squad for the friendly against the Lions of Teranga.
There is another chance for French-born midfielder Abdelnasser Ouaddah, who walked out on the team in Tunisia, reportedly angry at not getting a place in the starting line-up.
Last month, Mohamed Raouraoua, the AFF head, said he hoped Ouaddah would put the incident behind him and reconsider an international career with the Algerians.
There was also a first call-up for another French-born player, Strasbourg striker Salim Arrache who made his Ligue 1 debut this season.
