Inter Milan's Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins is expected to be ruled out for a month after spraining his right knee. Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the 19-year-old forward suffered the injury before their friendly game against English side Bolton Wanderers.
As a result, Martins will miss the first leg of Inter's Champions League third qualifying round match against Swiss side Basel on 11 August.
The injury also puts him in doubt for Nigeria's 2006 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe on 5 September in Harare.
The Super Eagles currently top Group Four of World Cup qualifying, above Zimbabwe's Warriors as well as Angola, Rwanda, Algeria and Gabon.
