 Former Fulham boss Jean Tigana is being targeted by Egypt |
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has targeted French coach Jean Tigana as a potential replacement for Mohsen Salah.
Salah resigned after the Pharaohs were eliminated from the Cup of Nations at the group stage.
Mali-born Tigana heads a list of 15 names which has been drawn up by the EFA .
The list also includes Bruno Metsu, the former Senegal coach who lead the Teranga Lions to the quarter finals of the World Cup; Roger Lemerre, the man who led Tunisia to Cup of Nations glory; and the former English FA Technical Director Howard Wilkinson.
Lemerre is currently in talks with the Tunisian Football Federation about extending his contract with the Carthage Eagles.
Tigana has already been approached by the EFA but was unable to give a firm commitment because of his continuing legal battle with his former English Premiership club Fulham.
"He said he is interested in the job but cannot accept it at the moment," EFA official Hany Abu Reda told BBC Sport.
"He told us he is focusing on his court case which would not allow him to be fully committed to the job."
Another name in the frame is that of Philippe Troussier, formerly the manager of South Africa's Bafana-Bafana but now in charge of Qatar.

Coaches from Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Croatia and the Netherlands have also been included on the Egyptian wish list.
Wilkinson, who turned down the chance to coach Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, has been out of work since he was sacked as manager of English side Sunderland in March.
He has had spells in charge of Notts County, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and the England Under-21s.
Egypt hope to appoint the new coach by the end of this month.
But Shawky Gharieb, former coach of the country's Olympic team, is likely to act as caretaker until a replacement is picked.
