FA boss Justice Tolla Thompson is determined to hold the congress
A court in Sierra Leone has ruled that the country's Football Association cannot convene a crucial congress this weekend.

The injunction was passed on Friday by Freetown high court judge Justice Ademusu.

The news was greeted with jubilation by football club officials who have been in dispute with the FA executive since last September.

Football stakeholders in the country are seeking an injunction to have a consultative conference before congress.

However, the FA, led by Justice Tolla Thompson, has insisted they will go ahead with congress despite the court ruling.

The stakeholders have the backing of Sports Minister Dennis Bright.

The Council of Clubs secretary general Foday Turay described the court ruling as "appropriate."

"We believe in the law and it must take its course," Mr Turay told BBC Sport.

Executive members and staff of the FA are already in the Eastern Province town of Kenema to hold the congress.

The congress has been scheduled to taken place since August last year, but has been postponed several times.

The court has now adjourned it to 11 February.
