Dennis Oliech will line up for Kenya against Mali's Frederic Kanoute |
Kenyan coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee has played down the prospect of facing Frederic Kanoute at Nations Cup finals. The Harambee Stars could come up against the Tottenham Hotspur striker when they take on Mali in their opening match in Tunisia on 26 January.
But a confident Mulee said his team had nothing to fear from Mali's latest recruit.
"You know how many professionals Togo had (during qualifiers) and we still went on to beat them.
"Who is Kanoute?" Mulee quipped at the Harambee Stars' training camp in Nairobi.
Kanoute has opted to play for Mali at Tunisia 2004 despite intense pressure from his English Premiership club to abandon the idea.
Mulee also pointed out that he will be fielding his own star strikers Dennis Oliech and Mike Okoth in the match.
Kenya, who are returning to the Nations Cup finals after a 12 year absence, will also face Senegal and Burkina Faso in Group B in Tunisia.
