Cecafa delays club championship
Rwanda
Rwanda will contest their first Nations Cup finals in January

The Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) has postponed next year's club championship to give host Rwanda more time to prepare.

The 29th annual championship was scheduled to start on 15 February, the day after the final of the Nations Cup in Tunisia.

"The Cecafa members felt Rwanda needed enough time to prepare to host the event which would have come immediately after the Cup of Nations," said Cecafa secretary Nicholas Musonye.

The club championship will now take place from 20 March to 4 April.

Uganda's Sports Club Villa of Uganda are the defending champions.

Rwanda, who are making their first appearance in the Nations Cup, have been drawn in Group A alongside Guinea, DR Congo and their Tunisian hosts.

The Bees will get the competition underway on 24 January when they play Tunisia in the city of Rades.
