The USA's C J Klaas battles with Ivory Coast's Mondakan Mahan
Ivory Coast were reduced to 10 men as they lost 2-0 to the United States in the World Youth Championship in Dubai.

The Americans go on to face Argentina in the quarter-finals thanks to goals from Justin Mapp and Ed Johnson.

Ivory Coast goalkeeper Drissa Toure was shown the red card shortly before half-time for handling the ball outside the area.

Toure had already been booked for bringing down the USA's 14-year-old Ghanaian-born star Freddy Adu.

Ivory Coast missed three scoring chances as they took control in the early stages before Mapp ran half the length of the field to slot past Toure.

The foul on Adu in the 43rd minute allowed Johnson to double the advantage from the penalty spot.
