The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has banned four overseas-based players from playing for the country. Adewale Ogungbure, Emmanuel Izuagha, Alfred Omoefe and Felix Okpuke, who were in the Under-23 team at last month's All Africa games, were suspended for one year.
According to the NFA, the quartet demanded to be paid US $4,000 each before playing in the final against Cameroon, which Nigeria lost 2-0.
All four have been denied the chance to compete for a place in the senior side that will be at next year's Nations Cup finals in Tunisia.
Before the one-year ban, the four players had been suspended from the Olympic side and were subsequently omitted from the team that played in a recent qualifying tie against Egypt in Cairo.
Meanwhile, the NFA has terminated the contract of national women's team coach Sam Okpodu after the side's poor performance at the World Cup finals in the United States.
Nigeria, African champions, lost all their first round group matches.
