Abedi Pele
Abedi is expected to join Michael Schumacher
Former African Player of the Year Abedi Pele is to help conduct next month's 2006 World Cup qualifying draw.

Fifa has yet to make an official announcement on who will participate in the draw but it did confirm the Ghanaian legend's involvement to this website.

"Abedi Pele will be one of several people taking part in the draw," a Fifa spokesman said.

It is believed that Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher and singer Sting will also be involved in the 5 December draw in the German city of Frankfurt.

Brazilian legend Pele is also expected to join Fifa president Sepp Blatter among the 3,500 spectators at the draw.

Organising committee officials told a news conference on Tuesday that over 100 countries were taking live TV coverage of the draw and several hundred million people were expected to watch.

Fifa deputy general secretary Jerme Champagne will preside over the draw but a host of soccer greats will be present.
