Ismailia hope to emulate other top Egyptian teams |
Egypt's Ismailia eased into the African Champions League semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast.
Despite an indifferent display when edging out Simba 2-1 two weeks ago, Ismailia got the win they needed against struggling Asec to advance from Group A.
A shot from Amr Fahim hit the upright before ricocheting off the head of diving goalkeeper Stephane Dimy and into the net for the opener on 10 minutes.
And Mohamed Mohsen Abougreisha got the second just after the half-hour mark, shortly after ASEC went down to 10 men when Alhassane Koivogui was sent off for a dangerous challenge.
Ismailia are bidding to become the third Egyptian team after Al-Ahly and Zamalek to collect the most prestigious club prize in African football.
USMA of Algeria earlier qualified for the semi-finals with a 2-0 victory over AS Aviacao of Angola.
Leaders Enyimba of Nigeria will join them if they avoid defeat against Simba in Dar-es-Salaam on Sunday.
