Cameroon won the Olympic title in 2000 |
The draw for the group matches in the African qualifiers for next year's Olympic Games will take place in Tunis on 19 September. The draw has been delayed because of the postponement of an outstanding first round qualifier between Morocco and the Gambia, which will be played later this month.
The first leg will be in Rabat on 6 September and the return match takes place in Banjul four days later.
The fifteen teams that have progressed through the preliminary knockout stage plus the winner of the remaining tie will be placed into four groups for qualifiers.
The group stage, which begins in late October, is due to be completed by March 2004.
The winners of each group qualify for the Olympic football tournament in the Greek capital, Athens.
Africa has been given an extra place after Nigeria and Cameroon won gold in the last two Olympics in Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000).
The teams that have qualified for the group stage are Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia, Uganda and Zambia.
