Two Nigerian league fixtures played over the weekend were abandoned as a result of crowd trouble. The matches were a Premier League game between relegation-threatened Jigawa Golden Stars and Sharks of Port Harcourt and a Division One tie between Yobe Stars and El-Kanemi.
Trouble started in the Premier League game after the visiting Sharks were awarded a free kick in the 34th minute.
Angry home fans, already furious with Sharks' 25th minute goal, invaded the pitch and brought the match to an early end.
Former Nigeria manager Shaibu Amodu, now in charge of Sharks, condemned the action of the Jigawa fans.
"It is rather unfortunate that this kind of ugly development is still being witnessed despite the efforts of the Nigeria Football Association to clean the league of such things.
"We hope they will take a decisive action in our case," said Amodu.
In the match between Yobe Stars and El-Kanemi, fans refused to leave the pitch after El-Kanemi scored mid-way through the second half.
The Nigeria Football Association recently handed down five-year bans on two players following a violent crowd incident at the Akure Township Stadium in June.
Sunshine Stars, who play their home games at the ground, were also forced to move to a neutral venue.
