Algeria began their tour of Belgium with a 1-1 draw against Excelsior Mouscron. Mbo Mpenza gave the Belgian club a fifth-minute lead before Fares Fellahi drew level for the Desert Warriors in the 68th minute.
Mouscron are managed by George Leekens, who resigned as Algeria coach in June.
The Desert Warriors training camp is in preparation for the 2004 Nations Cup finals taking place in Tunisia.
Coach Rabah Saadane took a squad of 23 players, all home-based, for the Belgian trip.
They play another friendly on Tuesday, against French side Wasquehal at Tourcoing.
