Canon are in bottom place |
Supporters of Canon Yaounde have blamed their poor performance in the Champions League on the club's management, led by Theophile Abega.
The Cameroon champions are at the bottom of Group B, behind Esperance, USM Alger and AS Aviacao.
Fans said their 3-0 loss to USM on Friday was a bitter pill to swallow.
Financial problems delayed Canon's departure for the tie, arriving in the Algerian capital with only 24 hours to the match.
"We have talented players, who if properly managed, cannot suffer such a heavy defeat," said one supporter.
"The management does not want to pay players and we wonder where the money from our partnership deal with the Belgian club Lokeren is going to."
Striker Marcus Mokake said his colleagues are still expecting a substantial reward for beating AS Aviacao.
"It was on the eve of our departure to Algeria that we got part of the victory bonus for that match.
"Though no amount was fixed as bonus, we are still waiting for more money," Mokake said.
Abega, who is the general manager at Canon, said the team's hectic schedule had been responsible for their poor run of results in the continental competition.
"We have had a very busy calendar, playing five games in two weeks.
"I really think that this schedule of games is too much for the players," the former Cameroon international told BBC Sport website.
Canon would need a win in their October tie against Tunisian champions Esperance to remain in the hunt for a semi-final place.
