Fadiga disputes Inter's medical findings |
Italy's Olympic Committee (Coni) will make a final ruling on the status of Khalilou Fadiga's health this week. The Senegalese striker, who signed a three-year deal with Inter Milan on 9 July, was stopped from joining the team at their pre-season training camp last Thursday.
Coni, the highest sports authority in the country, will compare reports from the cardiologists of Fadiga and Inter.
In an interview published in Tuesday's Gazzetta dello Sport, an Italian sports daily, Inter doctor Bruno Caru was quoted as saying Fadiga has a life-threatening heart problem. "We did not sign the medical certificate [for Fadiga] because he has an abnormal heartbeat which is not compatible with athletic activity," said Caru.
"He didn't come for the meeting [on Monday] as he preferred to go to Paris to consult other specialists. He is a boy with character who does not give up."
Fadiga's result from France reportedly gave him the all-clear.

The player's manager Pape Diouf has discredited the finding of Inter's medical experts, saying Fadiga is fit to continue his career.
"Fadiga has passed tests with top French and European doctors and we will provide those results to Inter," Diouf told Gazzetta dello Sport.
News of Fadiga's condition comes just weeks after the death of Cameroon's Marc-Vivien Foe, who died of heart failure after collapsing during a Confederations Cup match in France.
In 1996, Inter Milan doctors discovered that Nwankwo Kanu had a faulty aorta valve and doubted whether the Nigerian striker would ever play again.
But after a successful heart operation in the United States, Kanu resumed his career with the Italian side before joining Arsenal in England.
