Fadiga joined Inter from Auxerre |
Italian side Inter Milan has stopped new signing Khalilou Fadiga from joining the team at their training camp. The club said further medical tests need to be conducted on the Senegal striker, who signed a three-year deal with the club on 9 July.
"Khalilou Fadiga will not leave for [our training camp in] Brunico [in order] to continue further medical test[s]," Inter said on their official website on Thursday.
"Chief of medical staff Professor Franco Combi will remain in Milan to evaluate Fadiga's physical condition."
Fadiga is the second African player that has been at the centre of medical uncertainties with Inter.
In 1996, Nigeria's Kanu Nwankwo was diagnosed as having a heart defect after his transfer from Ajax Amsterdam.
But the Nigerian went on to make a full recovery after surgery in the United States.
Fadiga, a member of the Senegal side that reached the quarter-finals at the 2002 World Cup, had a successful season with his former French club Auxerre.
They won the French Cup after beating Paris St Germain.
Fadiga's transfer to Italy was facilitated by his European Union nationality, as he holds a Belgian passport after spending six years there.
