Vingada is a former Portugal boss |
Egyptian giants Zamalek have named former Portugal and Saudi Arabia coach Eduardo Manuel Martinho Vingada as their new boss. Vingada takes over following the departure of Brazilian coach Carlos Cabral to Qatar's Al Arabi.
Vingada will take over the African champions from next month.
He will receive a pre-signing fee of US $60,000 and a monthly salary of US $16,000.
The 50-year old has worked before with four Portuguese clubs, including giants Benfica, as well as Belenenses, Acdemica, and Martimo.
However, he has spent most of his career working with Portugal's youth teams before coaching his nation's national team in 1993 and Saudi Arabia's national team in 1997.
He was able to lead the Portuguese youth team to the European title in 1994 and the world youth championship bronze medal in 1995.
"I am happy to coach such a big club like Zamalek, which is considered to be one of the best in the African continent," Vingada stated.
The news came as a relief to the club fans, who are still suffering from the shocking elimination from the Champions' League last week.
The Portuguese was previously nominated to manage the Egyptian national team in 1997 but the negotiations failed for his excessive financial demands at the time.
