Striker Bartlett is surplus to requirements |
South Africa has continued to ignore former captains Shaun Bartlett, Mark Fish and Lucas Radebe. The English-based trio have been left out of the squad for a match agianst Jamaica at the end of the month.
They have been sidelined by coach Ephraim Mashaba after missing a get-together of South Africa's foreign-based professionals which was held in Spain in February.
It means that Radebe, who has announced he will retire from international football at the end of the season, will never play for South Africa again.
Also left out is striker Benni McCarthy, who has not been picked since refusing to sign a commercial contract with the South African Football Association.
The dispute has been running since September, when McCarthy called the money on offer "a joke".
Mashaba has named four uncapped players and brought back Quinton Fortune of Manchester United for the match in Cape Town on 30 April. The game against the Reggae Boyz has been organised to officially launch the start of South Africa's 2010 World Cup bid.
There is also a return for Norwegian-based goalkeeper Emile Baron, who won his only cap a year ago in the World Cup build-up but was not taken to the finals in South Korea.
The uncapped players are Benson Mhlongo, who gets his first call-up, Lucas Sebona, Joel Seroba and left fullback Mandla Zwane, a former player at FC Porto.
