 Gadaffi is a Libyan international |
Libyan FA vice-president Al Saadi Gaddafi said he has the support of 30 countries for his bid to become Caf president.
"Many FA's have given me their backing because they know Al Saadi will help them," said Gaddafi, who did not name the countries that support him.
Al Saadi, son of the Libyan head of state, Muammar Gaddafi, was speaking at a press conference in Tripoli on Thursday.
Gaddafi is the second person that has come out to challenge incumbent Caf president Issa Hayatou.
Botswanan Ismail Bhamjee, president of the Confederation of Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) was the first candidate to throw his hat into the ring.
"I have very good contacts to bring sponsorship and investments into the African game," Gaddafi said.
'Towards the globalisation of African football' is the Libyan's campaign message.
Gaddafi said all African football associations will be relieved of their financial problems if he is elected Caf boss.
"African football has a lot of potential and it will prosper if we put a lot of money into the game" he said.
Gaddafi said he plans to go on an extensive election campaign throughout the continent when the Libyan league season comes to a close in July.
A Libyan international and player for local club Al Ittihad, Gaddafi said he will end his on-field career if he is elected to lead the African game.
