Kuffour is still in mourning |
Samuel Kuffour's much anticipated return to the Ghanaian squad will have to wait a while longer after the defender decided to put his international future on hold for family reasons. The decision means the Bayern Munich star will not play for the Black Stars in a four-nation tournament scheduled to be held in Tunisia from 27-29 March.
The competition will feature Ghana, Guinea, Cameroon and hosts, Tunisia.
"I won't play in those matches (in Tunisia). At the moment I'm focusing on my family," said Kuffour, whose 15-month-old daughter drowned last January.

Kuffour was recently recalled to the Black Stars set up by the new Ghana coach Burkhard Ziese after a 14-month absence. A veteran of 52 caps for the national side, Kuffour has not played for Ghana since being sent home from last year's African Nations Cup finals in Mali for alleged breaches of discipline.
"There'll be two qualification matches in June and if things are better regarding my family I could play," said the 26-year-old Kuffour, without elaborating.
Kuffour had criticised the new coach for not getting in touch with him after his bereavement.
"People have to talk to me. It would be normal for the coach to phone me and not just send a simple fax," he lamented.
