 Molwantwa celebrates his goal |
Botswana wrote themselves into the history books on Sunday with their first-ever win in the Cosafa Castle Cup.
It ends a seven-year run without a win in the Southern Africa regional tournament.
The Zebras went into the match against Namibia in Windhoek as the only side yet to record a victory.
But an early effort from Tshepiso Molwantwa secured a 1-0 victory to end their long-standing hoodoo. Botswana rode their luck as Namibia lost their ninth international in a row.
The Namibians hit the crossbar three times in the second half and had a legitimate looking goal ruled out by the referee.
Johannes Hindjou twice rattled Botswana's woodwork and Robert Nauseb, from the South African club Ajax Cape Town, also saw his header bounce back into play.
Chances were spurned by Razundura Tjikuzu and Gervatius Uri Khob, the veteran striker making his return to the Namibian side.
Botswana's goal came after Molwantwa climbed unchallenged to head home a floating cross from Kabelo Kgosiang just four minutes into the game.
It was only their effort of the match where they struggled with fitness and needed some desperate defending to keep their lead intact.
