Udeze has not been impressive so far |
Nigerian defender Ifeanyi Udeze was severely criticised for his poor performance for West Bromwich Albion last weekend. His objection to a Southhampton throw-in, which was subsequently given, allowed his opponents to seize the attacking initiative.
It enabled 'The Saints', as Southampton are known, to score the lone goal of the match.
Udeze was subsequently substituted after just 25 minutes of play.
What he did on Saturday had no place on a premiership football field West Brom manager Gary Megson |
"What he did on Saturday had no place on a Premiership football field," said manager Gary Megson.
"To say it annoyed me is putting it lightly.
"I do not pick players on what they can do or what they might do in the future.
"It's what you are doing now that counts."
West Brom signed Udeze on loan in January from Greek side PAOK Salonika, in a bid to bolster a side desperate to avoid relegation.
Megson's decision to get Udeze was influenced by his performance at the 2002 World Cup finals in Japan.
