Coulibaly suffers broken leg
Adama Coulibaly
Coulibaly will miss the rest of the season
Lens' Malian defender Adama Coulibaly faces an eight month lay-off after having his leg broken in Saturday's 4-1 win over Montpellier in the French Championnat.

Coulibaly suffered the injury after a horrifying tackle from Sebastien Michalowski on 62 minutes.

The Montpellier player was instantly red-carded.

The injury rules Coulibaly out for the rest of the season, and is a massive blow to Mali as they continue their campaign to qualify for the 2004 African Nations Cup.

Better news for Lens is that their inspirational Senegal midfielder Pape Bouba Diop is set to return after a lengthy spell out injured.

The northern France side, who missed out on winning the league on the final day of last season, are now up to ninth after the win.

Prolific midfielder Antoine Sibierski opened the scoring early with his 10th of the season, before Tony Vairelles scored once and French international Daniel Moreira twice.

The result also meant Montpellier dropped to last place.
