This is the second time in charge for Ziese |
The Ghana Football Association has appointed Germany's Burkhard Ziese as coach of the Black Stars after rejecting him just seven days ago.
Ziese, who be taking over as coach of Ghana for a second time, begins his job on 1 March for an initial period of six months.
His appointment brings to an end the most controversial race to select a coach in Ghana's history. The GFA last week interviewed three coaches, but announced later that none had qualified for the job.
Fans howled with derision and accused the FA of sabotaging the game.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Edward Osei-Kwaku, demanded a report on the interview process and later announced that the ministry was in favour of the German.
Many believe that the public outcry played a key role in the u-turn.
GFA chairman Ben Koufie and influential former player Abedi Pele both threatened to resign after Ziese was rejected by the executive board.
The coach is expected to arrive in Accra next week to finalise and sign a contract.
