Angola calls off friendly
Angola are keen to qualify for the 2004 Nations Cup
Angola have cancelled next Wednesday's match with Mozambique.

The encounter had been set for Luanda.

The match was previously postponed from November, when Mozambique said they had no team to compete in the match.

Since then, there has been no change in circumstances, as Mozambique told their hosts they were not still not ready, said Angolan Football Federation secretary-general Delcio Costa.

The match is the second leg of a revived cup competition to be played annually between the two southern African nations.

Angola drew 1-1 in Mozambique last June and were to host the return leg on 11 November.

The latest postponement is a further setback for Angola's preparations for their African Nations Cup qualifiers against Malawi and Nigeria.

Mozambique are currently without a coach, although last week they had discussions with former Soviet international Viktor Bondarenko.

Angola coach Ismael Kurtz had hoped to use the game to look at the uncapped Figueiredo from Portuguese premier league side Santa Clara and striker Johnson Macaba, who recently moved to Turkey.

The Angolan Federation said attempts were being made to persuade Namibia to travel as late replacements.
