| Friday, 22 November, 2002, 13:44 GMT Algeria to bid for 2008 ![]() Algeria want to be the host nation in 2008 Algeria are hoping to host the 2008 African Nations Cup after failing in their bid to host the 2006 tournament. Egypt convincingly won the vote to host the 2006 tournament, polling seven of the 11 votes cast with Algeria winning just one. But Algeria are hopeful that they will be successful in 2008. Mohamed Raouraoua, chairman of the Algerian Football Association, is confident that the experience gained during their campaign to host the 2006 tournament will stand them in good stead. However, Raouraoua realises that he will have to improve the image of football in Algeria if they are to stand a serious chance of hosting the tournament.
