| Monday, 28 October, 2002, 11:47 GMT Tanzania's Taifa Stars dissolved ![]() Tanzania's future is again uncertain The Football Association of Tanzania (FAT) has disbanded the country's national team with immediate effect. FAT secretary-general Michael Wambura said they did not know when the side would be reassembled. Wambura added that the team had been dissolved to give local players a chance of participating in the Vodacom Premier League which starts on Tuesday. But he did not say whether players in the current side would be recalled. The Taifa Stars will play in the East and Central Africa Senior Challenge Cup, which kicks off on 30 November in Dar es Salaam and Arusha. Tanzania, whose form has been poor in recent months, are at the bottom of their Nations Cup qualifying group, losing 4-0 to Benin Republic and 2-1 to Sudan. They also finished last in the recent Castle Cup, after losing on penalties to South Africa in a third-place play-off. | Top Africa stories now: Links to more Africa stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
