Kalusha rules out Zambia move
Kalusha Bwalya
Kalusha says his immediate future is not in Zambia

Zambian legend Kalusha Bwalya has ruled out any immediate return to his homeland to coach the national team.

Bwalya, who is now furthering his coaching career in Holland, with the support of PSV Eindhoven, told BBC Sport Online that he did not think his coaching career would take him back to Zambia.

"I am still happy to contribute if they need me but for now my coaching future is in Europe," Bwalya said.

The former star striker began coaching last season in Mexico where he helped lead Veracruz FC to the national title.

He has now returned to Europe to gain more coaching experience at the club where he plied his trade for four years in the early 90s.

But since deciding to focus on a coaching career, speculation has been rife that Bwalya could be called up to solve his country's coaching crisis.

Zambia have had three coaches in the last year but fortunes have started to improve under new coach Patrick Phiri.

Whatever the current situation though, Bwalya is not keen to take on the national coaching job at this stage in his career.

"I do not want people to keep asking me and assuming that I will coach the national team, that has gone on for a long time now. I am happy to help out if they contact me but I want to get on with my life in Europe for now," he insisted.

"I've chosen to coach and that could take me anywhere in the world, including Africa but not necessarily Zambia.

"My future could still be in Africa, it could be anywhere but the thing is I wouldn't like to sterotype myself just because I'm from Zambia and I played for them for many years.

"I have always lived somewhere else other than Zambia to further develop my skills and I don't see why I should go back to Zambia now," he concluded.
