| Wednesday, 2 October, 2002, 14:38 GMT 15:38 UK Ben Achour backs Lemerre for Tunisia job ![]() Lemerre would be tasked with reviving the national team Tunisian international Slim Ben Achour supports the choice of Roger Lemerre as manager of the national team. "With his experience, he will bring a lot to our side," the Paris St Germain player told French newspaper L'Equipe. Ben Achour also stressed the importance of Lemerre's previous ties with Tunisian football.
"He's already coached a club in our country, Esperance, in 1984, so he knows the Tunisian mentality. I believe he's the man we need." Lemerre had talks with Tunisian FA officials last month and could take on the job after he was sacked as France manager following their dismal World Cup campaign. The North Africans were without a manager after Ammar Souayah resigned at the end of the World Cup due to ill health.
