| Friday, 20 September, 2002, 12:22 GMT 13:22 UK Belgian de Wolf named Gabon coach ![]() Gabon lost their opening Nations Cup qualifier The Gabon Football Federation have named former Belgium international Michel de Wolf as the new coach of the national team. The former Anderlecht star has signed a one-year renewable contract. De Wolf is able to draw on a wealth of experience as a player at major tournaments, as he participated in three World Cups, in 1986, 1990 and 1994. At a press conference on Wednesday he said that his immediate aim was to qualify the side for the 2004 African Nations Cup in Tunisia. Gabon are currently third in their qualifying group, having lost 1-0 to Morocco at home in their opening match.
