SA too good for Swazis in semi
Teboho Mokoena
Mokoena was the star for SA
Cosafa Cup semi-final
Swaziland 1-4 South Africa

South Africa strolled into the final of the Cosafa Cup with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Swaziland.

It was the best possible result for new Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba, whose side will now face Malawi in the final of the competition.

"This was always going to prove a tricky one because the Swazis were so determined to beat us. I'm glad we finished off so well," said Mashaba.

Hero for South Africa in a match that equalled their biggest ever victory margin was World Cup star Teboho Mokoena, who scored twice.

Swaziland put up a brave fight for the first 20 minutes, but were under massive pressure once South Africa had got into their stride.

It did, however, take a naive error for Mokoena to open the scoring, rising to a cross from the right to nod home with the Swazi defence nowhere.

Swaziland immediately seemed to lose heart as the South Africans set up a number of opportunities through sheer pace on the right.

However after half time they amazingly sneaked back on level terms, Siza Dhlamini smashing the ball through the SA wall from a free kick and giving Arendse no chance.

'Shoes' Mashaba
Mashaba was delighted to secure his first win
But their defending was constantly suspect and Mokoena was again able to take advantage too easily.

Swaziland were temporarily down to nine men when Mokoena poked home from a Jabu Pule corner to restore SA's advantage.

Pule himself then put the matter beyond doubt with a penalty, and Stanton Fredericks added insult to injury in extra time.
