Sudan coach rejects Tanzania
The Sudan national team
The sudanese team are playing two friendlies in Jordan
The new Sudan national team coach Wojtek Wazarek says he was offered the job of coaching Tanzania's Taifa Stars but turned it down and opted for Sudan.

The Polish tactician spoke to BBC Sport Online at Cairo International Airport on Friday while enroute to Jordan with his team to play a friendly match.

He said that the Tanzania FA made their request through the Polish ambassador in Dar es Salaam.

They want me to deliver instantly but I think I need more time.

"The Polish ambassador in Tanzania called me several times asking me to take the job with the Tanzania Football Association but I decided to refuse, " he said.

But Wazarek admitted he was not entirely sure how serious the offer was.

The Tanzanian FA is in the processing of recruiting a foreign coach after sacking German Burkhad Pape early this year.

Meanwhile Wazarek has begun prepaprations for next month's Cup of Nations qualifier match against Zambia by arranging friendlies with Jordan and Egypt on 19 and 23 August.

He said he is using the matches to test old and young players before picking a team for the match against Zambia.

Big responsibility

The former Polish national team coach is on a 17 month contract to guide Sudan through the Nations Cup qualifiers, the contract's renewal will be subject to the team's performance in the qualifying matches.

But Wazarek admitted it was a big responsibility to make an impact in such a short space of time.

"They want me to deliver instantly but I think I need time. It is just the second week since I took over the job and I have not even been able to know who the best players are for the team. But I am optimistic, I can make it," he said.

Sudan are in the same qualifing group as Tanzania, Zambia and Benin.
