After weeks of searching, Zamalek have appointed Carlos Roberto Ferriera Capral as their new manager.

The Brazilian coach was presented to the media at a press conference in Cairo on Thursday.

His appointment ends Zamalek's protracted search for a new handler, after the club failed to sign Carlos Alberto Torres, due to financial disagreements.

The 57-year old Brazilian coach, who will be on a monthly salary of $12,000, started his coaching career in 1979 and led Brazilian club Santos to the national league in 1995.

In contrast with Zamalek's former coach Otto Pfister, the new coach has no experience with African football.

His resume includes work in Brazil, Ecuador, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.

With less than two weeks to Zamalek's opening Champions League match against ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast, Capral will be working under tremendous pressure.

But the new appointee says he is up to the demands of the job.

"When I used to coach Santos, I had Pele's son in my team but I never used him in the starting line-up.

"There was a lot of pressure for me to use him because he was the son of the club's most famous player.

"Pressure is something that I know how to handle," Capral said.

Club president Kamal Darwish said Capral may not take responsibility for the team until their second game against Esperance of Tunisia.
