Adegboye Onigbinde, Nigeria's coach at the World Cup finals, said he has never had a contract with the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and has no further desire to work with them.

"Contrary to what has been said in the media, I never signed any agreement with the NFA to be the Technical Director," Onigbinde told BBC Sport Online.

"When the FA sent a letter to me offering me the position, I said that there are certain issues that would have to be ironed out first.

"They offered me a contract which placed me on a civil service salary structure, which I did not agree with.

"But up to this moment, I never had any reply from them. As far as I am concerned, I am a free agent," Onigbinde said.

Before the sports minister's decision to opt for a foreign coach, the NFA said they were in negotiations with Onigbinde for a new contract.

"This shows that the FA officials are confused and I really do not want to be part of that kind of set-up," said the former Technical Adviser of Trinidad and Tobago.

"One newspaper said that I had resigned from my position but what job did I have to resign from?"

Onigbinde, a Caf and Fifa coaching instructor, said he is taking a "well deserved rest" and is exploring other career opportunities.
