Ahly line up Roma friendly
Al Ahly take on Real Madrid
Ahly surprisingly beat Real Madrid last season
Club officials of Egyptian club Al Ahly have announced that the team will be play a friendly against Italian side AS Roma on the 11 August.

The match will be sponsored by a conglomerate of tourism companies.

Ahly is expected to receive an amount of 500,000 Egyptian pounds for playing the match, while Roma's Giants will receive an amount of $600,000.

The Italian team will send a first-team squad to Cairo, complete with star players Batistuta, Totti and Cafu.

The idea of hosting the match surfaced after the African club of the century successfully organised a match against Real Madrid last year.

Ahly was surprisingly able to win the game 1-0 despite Real fielding players of the quality of Raul, Zidane and Luis Figo.

At the time Ahly officials announced that they will be looking forward to start their season with another match against one of the European main powers after their successful experience with Real Madrid.

On the other hand, the club officials are intensifying their talks with a number of European coaches to lead the team in the new season after they sacked their Portuguese coach Manuel Jose.

The decision was met with resentment from the majority of the club's fans, especially since he was able to win the Caf Champions' League and the Super Cup with the team last season.

However, Ahly failed to accomplish anything on the local level, losing the League and the Cup.

The club's negotiations with Dutch coach Arrie Haan were called off in the last stages after the two sides failed to settle their financial issues, as he asked for $30,000 while Ahly offered him a monthly salary of only $17,000.
