The third league title in their history was secured with a 3-2 victory over Masry. Ismaili also finished the season without losing a league match. They were pushed all the way, however, by Cairo giants - and 29 times champions - Al Ahly. Ahly won their last game against Arab Contractors 3-1, with Ismaili requiring another win to secure the title, which they got. "We deserved this title, we were rewarded for our efforts after a long and tough season. "I am very pleased with the players performance and we dedicate this victory to our fans" said Ismaili's coach Mohsen Saleh. Saleh is expected to be named new coach by the Egyptian FA sometime this week. In contrast, Ahly, who begin defending their Caf Champions' League title in August when they play Jeanne d'Arc from Senegal, decided not to renew their contract with the Portuguese coach Manuel Jose. | See also: 17 May 02 | Africa 11 Apr 02 | Africa 07 May 02 | Africa Top Africa stories now: Links to more Africa stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
