Kasperczak quits Mali
Kasperczak has been a familiar face in Africa since 1994
After 8 years and 4 countries, Kasperczak is leaving Africa
Henri Kasperczak has returned to his homeland, Poland, after unexpectedly quitting his job with Mali at the weekend.

Mali's FA president Ahamadou Diakite was in Cairo at the weekend and was not aware of the coach's plans to quit.

Kasperczak says he has signed a three-year contract with Polish first division side Wisla Krakow.

He was confirmed as coach just 24 hours after the club sacked Franciszek Zmuda after a 1-0 defeat to Legia Warsaw.

56-year-old Kasperczak is a former Polish international who played in the 1974 World Cup and has spent the last 22 years as coach.

World Cup

He has only been with Mali for four months after replacing the Italian Romano Matte in preparation for the African Nations Cup in which Mali finished fourth.

At Krakow Kasperczak will not be out of touch with Africa completely.

He made his debut with Ivory Coast, taking them to third-place at the 1994 Nations Cup in Tunisia.

The Tunisians then signed him and he led them to a Nations Cup final and a place in the World Cup.

He then briefly coached Morocco before taking up his position with Mali.
