Beckham helped Los Angeles Galaxy win the Supporters' Shield on Sunday

David Beckham has not given up hope of playing again for England and insisted he will see out the final year of his Los Angeles Galaxy contract.

England boss Fabio Capello had stated he would not pick Beckham again for a competitive game but has since said no-one has been ruled out of contention.

And ex-Manchester United star Beckham, 35, said: "Of course I would always love to be available for my country."

He also revealed he will not leave the Galaxy before his deal ends in 2011.

Beckham has won 115 caps for England, more than any other outfield player, since making his debut in 1996 and has played in three World Cups. The former England captain made his last international appearance as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Belarus in October 2009 and injury prevented him being available to play in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

In August, Capello seemed to call time on Beckham's international career, although later in the summer the Italian appeared to backtrack and added: "The future is for the young players as we have to think about the Euros but no one player is out."

At the time of the initial statement, there was the offer of an appearance in a farewell friendly match but Beckham did not consider it at that stage because he felt he still had an England future. Beckham, for his part, has refused to give up on an England recall and said he would "always love to be available for my country".

"Everyone knows how passionate I have been for my country over the years so I would love to continue to play.

"Whether I do or not, that is obviously down to the manager and obviously down to myself to perform."

Beckham's Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan told BBC Radio Merseyside: "This is a guy that has overcome challenges his whole life, so I'd definitely not rule out a return.

"His qualities are always going to be there - the way he plays, the way he can deliver a ball and his ability to see plays.

"Physically he hasn't knocked off at all. He still moves the same way he did two years ago when I saw him."

Beckham's Galaxy contract runs out next year and although there is the option next month of buying out the final 12 months of his deal, he is content to stay until 2011.

"I'm definitely going to be here for the rest of my contract," he confirmed. "My sons go to school here, we're all happy living here, so I can't see us moving."

Beckham, who left Spanish giants Real Madrid for Major League Soccer in the United States in 2007, scored for the Galaxy in the 2-1 win over FC Dallas on Sunday that earned the club the Supporters' Shield for Major Soccer League's top point-scoring team.

It is the first time LA Galaxy have won the trophy since 2002 and they now begin their play-off campaign against Seattle Sounders on Sunday.

In the last two seasons, Beckham has returned to Europe for loan spells with Italian club AC Milan in order to maintain his fitness levels.

However, he suffered an Achilles tendon injury during his second loan spell in March and only returned to action for the Galaxy in August.

AC Milan said in July that he would not be returning for a third stint and Beckham now believes that he is unlikely to go out on loan again when the MLS play-offs finish in November.

"I would love to say that I'd be able to but with the injury that I've had you have to give it a certain amount of rest," he conceded.

The likes of West Ham and, more recently, Leicester City - now managed by former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson - were rumoured to be interested in signing Beckham.

But on Monday, Eriksson said there were no truth in the rumours linking the player with a move to the Walkers Stadium.

"There is nothing in that," Eriksson told BBC Radio Leicester. "If David wants to come here and play football he is more than welcome but I doubt he wants to play in the Championship."

Meanwhile, Beckham has offered his support to his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, whose role was the subject of much scrutiny during last week's protracted contract saga involving England striker Wayne Rooney.

Beckham, who famously suffered a cut above his eye when hit by a football boot accidently kicked by Ferguson in the dressing room, left Old Trafford in 2003 for Real Madrid.

"I was with Manchester United and Sir Alex Ferguson for 12/13 years and of course you have your ups and downs but for me he was a father figure," said Beckham.

"When he brought me to the club he gave me the chance to play for the club that I adored and that was my dream to play for. He is the best manager of football.

"You are going to have your ups and down with your boss in any walk of life but he is a great manager and a great personality."
