Margate were the last Kent League club to reach the first round
Hythe Town have become the first Kent League club since the 1950s to reach the first round proper of the FA Cup.
They beat Blue Square Bet South side Staines Town 2-0 thanks to goals from Gary Mickleburgh and Dave Cook.
That was the sixth game Hythe, who are in the ninth tier, have won in this year's competition.
Defender Lee Shearer, on his 33rd birthday, told BBC Radio Kent: "That was one hell of a performance, we're ball number 64, that's nearly my age."
The former Leyton Orient, Dover and Ebbsfleet player added: "We never thought we'd get this far, but it just goes to show what happens with a bit of belief. It's what the FA Cup is all about."
Manager Scott Porter added: "I'm gobsmacked. We thought if we could match them in our heart and desire we could get a bit of luck, but we got more than luck, we got what we deserved, a 2-0 win."
Let's hope the draw is kind to us and we can enjoy the day and earn a lot more money for the football club because this is never going to happen again
Hythe manager Scott Porter
"You've done everyone proud, the football club, yourselves and me. Absolutely fantastic.
"You dream about days like this as a youngster. I'm going to be managing a non-League club in the first round. I am shocked, but all credit to the lads and the club. They deserve it.
"I now want a league club away, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton, Charlton. You won't get anything out of those teams, so let's hope the draw is kind to us and we can enjoy the day and earn a lot more money for the football club because this is never going to happen again."
Hythe are now the lowest ranked team left in this year's competition.
Ebbsfleet United are also through to the first round after a 3-0 victory over Boreham Wood, who they beat in Blue Square Bet South seven days ago. Paul Lorraine, Ricky Shakes and Calum Willock scored the goals in a game that saw Boreham Wood's Leon McKenzie sent off against the same opposition two Saturdays running.
Dover and Dartford both face midweek home replays after draws against Farnborough and Leiston Town respectively.
