Pickering Town appoint Keith Usher as chairman

Pickering Town

Northern Counties East League Premier Division side Pickering Town have appointed Keith Usher as chairman to succeed the late Tony Dunning.

Usher was previously secretary at York City for 18 years.

"I'm pleased in many respects to be chairman, but it's a pity about the circumstances in which it arose," he told BBC Radio York.

""I think I can bring enthusiasm and new ideas. I know the ins and outs of football," he added.

"Although that was at the professional level, it's the same principle really, even though it's lower down the pecking order."

Usher will combine the roles of secretary and chairman.

The club have also added three new members to their management committee, although they have lost the services of Anthony Handley for an unspecified period due to work commitments.

"We've had our first management team meeting," Usher added, "and I think it will be all systems go now."

The club have renamed their main stand "The Tony Dunning Stand" as a tribute to the local butcher who became a legendary figure both at the Recreation Ground and in the town itself.
