Graham Alexander is reluctant to end his Scotland career

Graham Alexander has stated he remains available for selection under new Scotland manager Craig Levein.

The 38-year-old Burnley midfielder, who has earned 40 caps for his country, will miss next month's friendly against the Czech Republic because of injury.

Alexander told the Clarets' website that he had held talks with the Scotland boss about continuing his international career.

The player-coach is recovering from a calf strain he sustained last month.

Coventry-born Alexander won the last of his 40 caps in last September's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Macedonia.

Levein named his first Scotland squad since succeeding George Burley earlier this week, ahead of the friendly against the Czech Republic at Hampden on 3 March.

The Scotland boss insisted that those players who had failed to make his 24-man would still be considered for future selection.
