Hughes would welcome the new Scotland boss to his training
Hibernian manager John Hughes thinks the new Scotland manager could relieve any boredom by joining in with training at clubs in Scotland and abroad.
Dundee United manager Craig Levein, who is in contract talks with the Scottish Football Association, fears he might miss day-to-day sessions with players.
But Hughes thinks helping at club level will aid Levein in choosing his squads.
"The door is certainly open here to put his tracksuit on and take one or two sessions," he told BBC Scotland.
Former Scotland manager Walter Smith, now with Rangers, warned at the weekend that Levein might become bored without the daily involvement in coaching.
And, ahead of Monday's talks with the SFA, Levein himself expressed his hope that he would have a job to do between international matches.

Hughes recognises that some clubs may not be so open to his idea but thinks that Scots managing outwith the country, such as Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, might also welcome Levein's presence.
"I would be picking his brains, trying to get all the knowledge he has got to bring it to Hibs," he said.
"And it will let him work with one or two players more closely."
Hughes reiterated his view of last week that Levein is a good choice for Scotland and their under-performing players, who missed out on qualifying for the World Cup finals.
"His CV stands up to it," said the Hibs boss. "I think he will get the most out of them.
"He knows what's going on in Scotland. I am glad it's a Scotsman.
"He will probably know all the players who are available for Scotland having played against them most weeks.
"He will also get out and about and see what's going on down south."
One of those managing in England and who has several Scottish players in his side, former Scotland boss Alex McLeish, also believes Levein will be a worthy choice.
"I think he will be able to do that job," said the Birmingham City manager.
"He is a good coach and he has done a great job with Dundee United.
"It is a tough task ahead, but he has got the coaching credentials and skills and he has got the man-management skills to take over and hopefully get the nation on its feet again."
