Exeter lose to Luton in cup semi

Alex Russell
Russell got Exeter City off to a good start with the opening goal

Exeter City lost 3-2 to Luton in the semi-final of the South West Errea Cup.

An early Alex Russell goal put Exeter ahead but Luton quickly fought back and equalised through Liam Hatch.

Luton had a goal disallowed in the 39th minute but Tom Craddick put the Hatters ahead at the end of the first half.

Exeter City brought it back to 2-2 through new signing Barry Corr.

But Drew Talbot's goal sealed victory for Luton.

City manager Paul Tisdale said: "It was a very good game of football and we were pleased with our performance, although disappointed that we lost.

"We were excellent in the first half, and to come off 2-1 was a shame, but I'm really pleased with the way we played."

Luton went on to win the South West Errea Challenge Cup, beating RFC Montegnee 3-1 in the final.
