St Clement thrown out of Shield

St Clement parish football team
St Clement will not be able to retain the title they won last season

Trinity Shield holders St Clement have been thrown out of the competition after fielding an ineligible player.

The eastern parish side played St Paul's striker Craig Russell in their 6-1 win over St John last week.

"Russell failed to sign the relevant documents for this season's tournament," said the Jersey Football Combination's Mark Le Cornu.

"It means St John are re-instated and will play St Brelade in the semi final on Tuesday night."

Russell was part of the St Clementwhich won last year's tournament, but had failed to register for the parish for the 2008/09 season.
